Surgery Day, YAY! Did not expect to scrub in, but Dr.Yu asked and I eagerly accepted. He let me suction and hold retractors in place, also got to cut a few sutures. There were 3 surgeries that day. A cleft lip with a unilateral cleft palate, a bilateral cleft palate and a VPI.
The three surgeries were back to back with a 20 minute break in between. Dr. Yu was kind enough to talk out the surgeries before and during the procedure. He explained the techniques and the theories behind each surgery.
